Kevin Ward, according to the city of Hyattsville, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
On Tuesday, Kevin Ward, 44, was discovered at Fort Marcy Park.
The city issued the following statement:
“Mayor Ward was a beloved and respected leader who fought tirelessly for all of Hyattsville’s residents.
“We are devastated by his death and express our heartfelt condolences to his family.”
