Teddy Balkind, who was in 10th grade, died in the hospital on Thursday night, shortly after the incident during his 5pm game. He was a student at St Luke’s, a private school in New Canaan, Connecticut

Teddy Balkind died when he was in the tenth grade. The camp, which has been entertaining boys since 1900 and offers over 40 activities, has been described as a place where “boys learn by doing.”

“Teddy Balkind was a bold, lovely spirit, who was full of life and a friend to all,” the camp wrote in an email to families.

Teddy was an exceptional young man who led by example and served as a mentor to our younger campers.”

He was promoted to captain of one of the camp’s “tribes” in 2021, and he had received numerous awards during his time there.
