Amelia Victoria Babis and Mark Kelly tied the knot in 1989 and were blessed with two daughters: Claudia Helen Kelly, born in 1995, and Claire Sophia Kelly, born in 1997.

Mark Edward Kelly is a retired American astronaut, U.S. Navy captain, entrepreneur, and politician who has been serving as the junior United States senator from Arizona since 2020.

A member of the Democratic Party, he won the special election following the passing of Senator John McCain, defeating the incumbent Republican, Martha McSally.

Before entering politics, Kelly served as a naval aviator and flew combat missions during the Gulf War. He was later selected as a NASA Space Shuttle pilot in 1996.

Kelly declared his candidacy for Arizona’s Class 3 U.S. Senate seat in the 2020 special election on February 12, 2019. He secured the Democratic primary victory on August 4, 2020, and emerged victorious in the general election on November 3, 2020, defeating incumbent Republican Martha McSally. This historic win made him the first Democrat to hold the seat since 1962, and he was sworn in on December 2, 2020.

Currently, Mark Kelly is running for reelection to a full term in the 2022 United States Senate election in Arizona, where he faces Republican candidate Blake Masters.
