Following his advice, she proceeded to assemble a band, recruiting Pete Farndon, James Honeyman-Scott, and Martin Chambers. This collaborative effort resulted in the formation of the band known as The Pretenders.

The band unveiled its debut single in January 1979, which achieved the No. 33 spot on the UK charts. Their second single, released later in 1979, enjoyed significant success.
